November 2008 - A look back from September to November

November 2008

It has been a while since I wrote. Since August so much has taken place. Ella and I went to visit Nicole, Mike and little Miss Mae pie in Falls Church, VA - what a treat and a joy it is to see them and experience every day life together. Mae and Ella enjoyed each other company and Ella really tried to keep up with Mae, its where she was really challenged to do more walking and on September 20th after we got home from VA, she got her walking legs! It was so amazing to watch her walk (more like prance as GrandMa says). She was so proud she got her walking legs. While we were there we met up with uncle Eric, which Ella really enjoyed and I think she will always have a special connection with him. Ella did great on the plane rides, although the last leg was horrible because I let Ella sleep in the airport in between flights. The guy I was sitting next to tolerated us, because he had to...but Ella was VERY anxious to say the least. I was thankful when the wheels of the plane touched the ground! Alex and Ella didn't seem to miss one another while they were apart, but they were surely happy to see one another when they were reunited in the airport.

Ella started walking just a few weeks after our VA trip and Alex was only 2 short weeks from walking after Ella. He had to keep up and boy did he! He had the Frankenstein walk for a few weeks, he had us all laughing so. He had such spaghetti legs that I almost thought he had a problem because Ella was not that wobbly. Ella was positively proud that she was upright! Alex kept falling a lot but he'd get right back up, they both made Mike and I feel sublime!

We started taking Alex and Ella to play group at the olathe school district. We go every day and the more they go, the more they enjoy it. Alex loves to hand toy animals or toy food to people, he is such a giver. Sometimes I become invisible to him because he wants to give things to others. I think it is wonderful that they are not afraid of others and they are so open to all. Ella loves to get involved with all kinds of things at play group. She has lately been into sitting on the chairs and she'll read books and then go over by the dolls and play baby, she goes up to the little girls who are older - she is fascinated by them, but they don't pay much attention to her. She is ever so graceful through it all. When Alex gives her a push to go down the slide, she doesn't fuss, she just goes down the slide. When he takes a toy, most times she will just let him, unless she is feeling like there is just too much injustice. She is the laid back one for the most part. And Alex is very impatient.

When we get done play group most days, we head home and walk inside, Ella briskly heads straight to her highchair, its her way of saying "let's eat lunch!" Alex makes his way to the highchair after he seeks what trouble he can get into on his way. Like escaping into the computer room because I left the gate open. Or hiding in the laundry room til I find him and he laughs and laughs, thinking he tricked me. After lunch we usually play for about an hour and then its nap time. They are down to one nap per day and I say okay its nappy time and the run to the gate, they love their naps. Up the stairs they go and we take Ella first and then go down the hall to drop off Alex. Not another peep until a few hours later. On Sundays we take the kids to church and everybody loves to see them, we walk up the ramp and the guys say as we approach, "here they come" as they greet us.

All the Sunday school caregivers say that Alex and Ella are so good. One day I went to get them after the service and the lady said, oh boy, you are going to have your hands full with Alex and the new baby. A little boy was sleeping in the crib and Alex went to the crib and was laughing at the little boy, trying to interact with him. He succeeded in keeping him awake. Well, I am going to post this since it is already December and I need to write for then.

Thank you Lord for the two wonderful blessings of Alex and Ella, actually three since baby T is on its way. Mike and I feel very fortunate to be their parents. We'll do our best to guide, love and them in all that they do. We have finally agreed on names for both genders. We'll see what happens. Emelia Nicole (named after Emile my grandfather and Nicole, my best and longest friend) for a girl, and Austin James for a boy. Gram is convinced it is Austin, so we'll see! We'd be happy with either one. Mike is leaning toward a boy so he doesn't have to pay for two weddings, he is only kidding of course. Ha!
